Something sounded out of tune or somthing. I just knew I knew and she knew it didn't sound right.
I just watched the billboard 2004 awards and evanesence played "my immortal"...
anyone noticed something?!...
Something sounded out of tune or somthing. I just knew I knew and she knew it didn't sound right.
my band mates and I watched the award last night... (it's rare to watch billboard awards in our country live so I assume it's taped)... and here's what we thought!...
----------------------------------------------
female vocalist (discussing with the conductor on stage):
can we pls. transpose the song from Key of A to A flat... I don't think I can sing that high tonight, my throat hurts...
(then the host welcomes the band... while the vocalist was still talking to the conductor)
vocalist (speaks to the mic): I'm sorry....
(piano intro key of A flat)
all is going well, orchestra site read the notes, transposing the key A to A flat on the spot(although you could sense that she's having difficulty with her voice)
band enters the stage... (not realizing the change of Key)
BANG!!!... Band plays key of A while the vocalist, paino and orchestra in A flat....
vocalist (continue singing but) wanting to stop playing the piano... (she's hearing chaos take place)... she can't believe what's happening...
--------------------------------------------
I dont know, but that's how we saw it...
Wow, hard to imagine what I'd do in her position. In all honesty I very much dislike this band and I think it serves them just right, but thats another story...
Well, mistakes like that happen and I guess it would have been best to start over and excuse the mistake, of course that comes across as awkward, but what are you gonna do? Nobody's perfect.
Another solution would have been to dance around like a fool and then walk off stage...*cough* Ashlee Simpson...*cough

I didn't see the part when she's talking with the conductor, but I heard it. All I thought was WOW!!! Not only was the band 1/2 step out of tune, but the drums sounded like ASS!!! It was such a bad mix. If I were the band, I would be really pissed.
Reminds me when Faith Hill accidently (without knowing it) trancribed 'Breathe' down a half step during the Grammys, back in 2001. At least the back-up singers hit the proper notes.
Oh, well... i can talk all i want as long as no one hears ME sing...
P.S. When the singer from Evanesence... whatever her name is...something-Lee... Geddy maybe ... when she talked to the conductor, what that actually on the audio feed?
2004: The year the fake bands self-destructed.

I only heard her talk to the mic saying "I'm sorry" (because there was a moment of dead air)... while the conductor was walking away from her and into the place where the orchestra was...when she talked to the conductor, what that actually on the audio feed?
well we assumed, imagined, that she must have spoken with the conductor about the problem...
if you guys taped the show, you could see the conductor's face somewhat worried or something, while walking away from the piano (where the vocalist was)...
I posted this because I was thinking... they (the guitarist/bassist) should have heard something was definetly wrong with the sound (conflicting tones)on the monitors (I assume they have monitors?)...
why didn't they adjust?! I could see the drummer was confused of what was happening and I can tell he was distracted while playing...
you could also tell the vocalist wanting to cry
That is what makes all instrumentalists glad that they practice their on-sight transposing.
Those that don't practice it...
